About Discovery Health Systems
Our division is responsible for designing, building and supporting applications that are used across the group in Discovery.
Key Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, administration and supporting of the Process Management Services area.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
- Escalate issues where necessary that are not getting the right level of airtime or attention.
- Problem management experience
- Reporting and Presentation
- Evaluate all problems and impact analysis and recommend solutions and workarounds.
- Supervise everyday requests for matters related to business applications and vendors and resolve issues related to production environment
- Responsible for day to day maintenance of the WF & Imaging environment, storage, archiving, new servers etc.
- Responsible for ensuring availability, performance and usability for users
- To proactively monitor the systems to ensure minimum downtime
- Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the solutions, including upgrades
- Verify build stability and quality with development team before releasing, assist with end to end testing with the aim to release with zero defects
- Implementation of Discovery standards and procedures
- TIBCO EMS monitoring, maintenance and implementation
- LINUX monitoring, maintenance and implementation

Skills
- Technical Skills - Statistical analysis and reporting, Problem solving, Root Cause Analysis
- Familiar with business organisation and services
- Experience in interacting with all levels in the organisation
- Experience in monitoring and tuning of existing batch processing (Magic, JAVA & TIBCO)
- Technologies – Familiar with infrastructure services and support
- Experience in managing large complex systems
- Oracle and PL/SQL knowledge
- Linux & Tibco EMS experience
- Experience in Windows server editions
- Experience in Windows platforms
- Knowledge of hardware i.e. scanners, print servers, bar coding
- Experience in xml
- Knowledge in BPMN and Document Management
- Knowledge in RPA processing (Process Controller)
- Knowledge in image manipulation and optimisation (Kofax, OCR)
- Experience understanding and interpreting modelling languages (UML)
- Exposure to Agile principles and methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Test
Driven Development - Familiar with JIRA/Confluence
Education and Experience
- Matric
- ITIL (Preferable)
- 3 to 5 years IT environment experience
- Relevant experience in an Applications Systems Support or Systems Administration environment.
